What your insomnia is trying to tell you

By Martha Lewis12/28/2023
What your insomnia is trying to tell you
If you aren’t sleeping normally, your body is trying to tell you that something is out of whack! I know this is true, because a healthy body sleeps well.

It can be hard to know if it’s all in your head. Or if there’s something deeper going on in your body that’s affecting your sleep. But you can figure this out and sleep well again!

My client Julie C. said:

“I had been having struggles with sleep off and on for years and the most recent flare at that time had lasted a bit longer than most other recent ones and I was ready for solutions. I decided to take a chance because I was tired of being tired and not getting enough sleep to function.

The consultants that I met with were compassionate and understood what I have been going through. I was given directions with a plan to help get things on track again.

Now, I have much better sleep overall. Not always perfect but I can function better at work during the day and when I do hit a rough patch, I keep in mind that it is temporary.”

Julie was able to figure out how to sleep well again, with our experience and support, and you can too.

In this blog post, you’ll learn what your body is trying to tell you, how to tell if it’s your body or your mind that’s sabotaging your sleep, and what needs to change for you to sleep better.

What your body is trying to tell you

Humans are meant to sleep 7-9 hours a night! If you aren’t sleeping enough, your body is screaming at you that something is wrong.

The worse your sleep is, the louder it’s screaming at you.

Simply put, your body is trying to tell you that something needs to change. Depending on your specific situation, it might be your overall health, your diet, your stress level, your busy lifestyle, or something else that needs to change.

Even when you eat healthy meals, or you don’t feel super stressed out, or you like your current busy lifestyle, something needs to change for you to sleep well again.

The first step you need to take is to figure out exactly why you aren’t sleeping, which is exactly what I can help you with in The Complete Sleep Solution program.

How to tell if it’s your body or your mind that’s sabotaging your sleep

Do you already know if your body or your mind is causing sleep issues?

You might have an idea right now what’s happening with you, but here’s another way to tell what the root cause of your sleep issues is…

If you experience high levels of stress most days, or you have negative thoughts about sleep, or you worry or feel anxious about sleep, or you tell yourself how tired you are all day, your mind is likely contributing to your sleep issues.

If you aren’t sleeping well most nights, and this has been going on for awhile, your body is definitely contributing to sleep issues.

I see this all the time with my clients: when you are experiencing insomnia, your mind MIGHT be contributing, but your body is DEFINITELY contributing to the issue.

So, how do you get better?

What needs to change for you to sleep better

You can sleep well again, but something has to change for you to achieve that.

If your mind is contributing to sleep issues, you will need to address your stress level and the mental components affecting your sleep, as well as the imbalances in your body affecting your sleep. So, the most important thing you can do for yourself, is to find out what’s happening inside of you.

In The Complete Sleep Solution program, I help my clients reduce their daily stress levels and discover exactly what’s causing the imbalances in their bodies with functional lab testing and assessments.

As I like to say, “Don’t guess. TEST.” And I can help you do just that.

To get started, you can take my free quiz that will help you determine if it’s your mind or body causing your sleep issues. Click here to take my free sleep quiz.
