The 5 phases of overcoming insomnia

The 5 phases of overcoming insomnia

My team and I have helped 100+ clients fix their insomnia. And we’ve identified 5 phases all of our clients go through during the process.

In this blog post, we’ll talk about:

  • what you can do if you don’t know why you can’t sleep
  • how to get the help you need to fix your insomnia
  •  Why the rollercoaster of getting better is completely normal
  • what you can do when your sleep improves but you still have some bad nights
  • how your sleep (and your life) can get better with consistent sleep.

Let’s dive in!

Phase 1: Feeling frustrated because you don't know why you can't sleep

You are likely in this phase right now. Does any of this sound familiar?

When you don’t know why you can’t sleep, you are spending a lot of time worrying, researching sleep solutions, and thinking about sleep.

You are doing things that are unknowingly sabotaging your sleep, like:

  • Spending money on supplements, courses, programs, therapists that aren’t working to try to sleep better.
  • Feeling frustrated because nothing is working.
  • Lying awake wondering why you can’t sleep.
  • Feeling out of control and helpless.

Although this is an exhausting time in your life, you can get better!

Phase 2: Feeling relief because you know why you can’t sleep and you have a plan

Getting the help you need is key here. My sleep programs are designed to fix insomnia for good.

When you get the help you need, you will feel relieved because you’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Functional lab testing will reveal why you can’t sleep and exactly what needs to go inside your personalized sleep plan. And that’s exactly what we’ll help you with inside my programs.

Phase 3: You’ll start to see improvement with your sleep and sleep anxiety

When you get started in my programs, you’ll begin making changes in your life that will help you sleep.

But improvement isn’t linear. It’s completely normal to experience ups and downs, like a rollercoaster, of sleep improvement.

You’ll feel less worried during this phase, because you know you are sleeping better and you know the “rollercoaster” is a part of the process.

Focusing on what you’ve gained and how well things are going is key. And seeing the roller coaster trend upward over time even though there will be dips and peaks.

Phase 4: Your sleep has drastically improved, though there may be some bad nights

You will begin sleeping so much better than you have been though you may still experience some bad nights.

The important thing to note here is that you’ll have less of an emotional reaction to bad nights and you won’t use that to sabotage yourself.

Although you’re still experiencing bad nights sometimes, the bad nights happen less and less often.

Phase 5: Sleeping 7+ hours a night uninterrupted and consistently

This is the ultimate goal, and it’s where we get our clients in our programs.

You’ll start sleeping 7+ hours a night uninterrupted and consistently. You may still wake up and go to the bathroom every night, but you’ll be able to fall right back asleep without any issues.

You’ll feel confident and in control of your sleep.

My client Michael recently started the Complete Sleep Solution program. He was sleeping 4 hours or less every night. After the first session with me, he made changes to his diet and lifestyle, and he started detoxification. And he said:

“With all of those changes, I have been sleeping more than four hours a night for one week in a row. I haven't experienced insomnia as hard as the previous months in which I got on average 2 nights per week in which I slept 4 hours or less.”

His lab tests aren’t even back yet!
