The 4 lab tests that will find why you aren’t sleeping normally

You don’t have to lay awake in bed in the middle of the night and wonder why you can’t sleep!

Functional lab testing will reveal all the imbalances in your body that are causing your insomnia. And with that information, you can make very specific changes that will get your body back in balance…and get you sleeping well again.

In this blog post, you’ll learn about the 4 functional lab tests that I run on my clients in my sleep programs to help them find and fix the imbalances in their bodies so they can sleep well without drugs.

Let’s dive in!

Bloodwork vs. functional lab tests

Functional lab testing is different from the bloodwork that your doctor would run on your body.

Bloodwork is meant to diagnose a disease or disorder. But before your body gets to that extreme level of imbalance, you can do functional lab testing to find less extreme imbalances that are causing your sleep issues.

So, functional labs are not meant to diagnose anything. Instead, they look at how the different systems in your body are working (or not working!).

One of the convenient benefits of doing functional lab testing is that you can take the tests in the comfort of your own home. Then, you simply send the tests back to the lab in prepaid envelopes.

No bloodwork. No going to the lab to take tests. No going to the doctor’s office for anything.

It’s very convenient.

Hormones and sleep: the lab test that will uncover hormonal issues

Hormone imbalance could be causing your sleep issues.

The test I run on my clients to uncover hormone issues is called the Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH).

The DUTCH test looks at your sex hormones, cortisol pattern during the day, liver function, and so much more.

This test can be more accurate than bloodwork because we will get samples at five different times throughout the day. So, we will see your levels at various times, as opposed to bloodwork that really just shows you a snapshot of one time of day.

If the DUTCH test reveals issues with your hormones, we will create a personalized plan to fix it in my sleep programs, so you can sleep better as soon as possible.

Gut issues and sleep: the lab test that will uncover gut issues

Gut issues could be causing your sleep issues.

The test I run on my clients to uncover gut issues is called the GI Map.

The GI Map test shows what’s living in your gut (the good and the bad), including pathogens, parasites, and good bacteria. It also shares important information about your digestion, immune strength, gluten sensitivity, gut inflammation, and more.

Your gut health is connected to your brain health. Neurotransmitters in your brain are made by the good bacteria in your gut, so if that’s depleted, then you’ll likely find issues with your neurotransmitters as well as your gut. This could explain why you’re anxious, depressed, and having trouble sleeping.

All of my clients have gut issues. So, if you’re having trouble sleeping, the GI Map test will likely find issues with your gut too.

This test searches for things in your gut that bloodwork doesn’t. That’s why I recommend the GI Map test over bloodwork to anyone suffering from insomnia.

If the GI Map test reveals issues with your gut health, we will create a personalized plan to fix it in my sleep programs.

Neurotransmitters and sleep: the lab test that will uncover neurotransmitter issues

Neurotransmitter imbalance could be causing your sleep issues.

The test I run on my clients to uncover neurotransmitter issues is called the Neuro Focus Panel.

The Neuro Focus Panel test is a urine test that looks at 7 key neurotransmitters.

If you’ve been feeling anxious, depressed, in addition to not sleeping well, you are likely experiencing an imbalance in your brain. And that’s ok! We can fix it.

If the Neuro Focus Panel test reveals issues with your neurotransmitters, we will create a personalized plan to get your body back in balance so you can sleep again. Bonus…you will also feel less moody in your daily life!

Minerals and sleep: the lab test that will uncover mineral issues

Mineral imbalance could be causing your sleep issues, and this is often an overlooked problem.

The test I run on my clients to uncover mineral issues is called the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA).

The HTMA test can uncover many issues related to everyday minerals as well as copper toxicity, heavy metals, and more.

If the HTMA test reveals issues with your minerals, we will deal with it together in my sleep programs and get you sleeping well as fast as we can.

Why it’s so important to take all 4 lab tests to get good sleep again

All four lab tests are essential to get the big picture as to what’s happening inside your body that’s causing your sleep issues, because the systems in your body are connected.

As an example and like we talked about, if you are having gut issues, then you are most likely having neurotransmitter issues too because the good bacteria in your gut make the neurotransmitters in your brain.

In addition to the four lab tests that we discussed in this blog post, I also do assessments on my clients in my sleep programs to uncover possible blood sugar issues, mold toxicity, brain inflammation, genes, and more.

In my sleep programs, I use 4 functional lab tests as well as assessments to look for everything that could be affecting your sleep so that nothing is overlooked. Let’s work together to find and fix the root cause of your insomnia so you can sleep well without meds.
