Are EMFs affecting your sleep with Chris Henderson

I interviewed fellow FDN (Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner) and EMF expert Chris Henderson to learn more about how EMF’s impact sleep and how to lower your exposure so you can sleep better.
What are EMF’s?
EMFs are:
- Natural and man-made invisible frequencies that travel through the air and conduct through wires and copper.
- Electromagnetic fields emitted by various sources, including power lines, wiring, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cell towers, and satellites.
- pervasive in modern urban environments, particularly with the advent of 5G technology.
The biggest issue is that we can't smell them, see them, and sometimes can't even feel them. But they're everywhere these days, especially with 5G and wifi in cities.
Chris became interested in EMFs when he experienced flares in his autoimmune health issues while visiting Melbourne where EMF exposure was much higher than the place he lived. He began to research all the ways that electric fields were impacting him and how he could begin to mitigate them.
When he began mitigating EMFs in his life, as well as mitigating the impacts of blue light, he saw drastic improvement in his autoimmune conditions.
The impact of EMFs on health and sleep
These unseen subtle frequencies are incoherent with our body’s electrical systems. They are additional stressors on an already stressed body.
Blue light is another form of EMF that can impact our health as our body and eyes are covered with photoreceptors for light.
EMFs can disrupt sleep by:
- Interfering with the body's production of melatonin, a hormone crucial for regulating sleep-wake cycles.
- Destroying melatonin and DHA.
- Blocking the body’s ability for cells to repair themselves during deep sleep.
Strategies for minimizing EMF exposure in the bedroom and during sleep
The electrical power grid operates at 50 Hertz, which is incongruent with the body's natural resonance of 7.83 Hertz (the Schumann Resonance). Wi-Fi operates at much higher frequencies. Turning these off at night can help with sleep and overall health.
Ways to mitigate man-made EMF exposure:
- Turn off electrical power in your bedroom at night.
- Turn off wifi in your home at night (use a timer) or don’t use wifi at all.
- Keep phones and bluetooth devices away from your body.
- Limit your exposure to blue light, especially before bed.
- Turn off the antennas on your phone which are operating continuously but rarely needed.
- Remove fitness or sleep trackers from your body, or make sure their antennas are off.
It’s important to note, there haven’t been recent studies to assess the risks of our current exposure to EMFs.
EMF Blockers
While some products claim to block EMFs, many operate on scalar technology, which has limited scientific backing. It's important to be cautious and thoroughly research such products.
Additionally, telecommunications agencies may be involved in releasing some of these products just to make money. Chris hasn’t found any evidence that these devices do what they claim to do.
It's essential to remain critical and prioritize minimizing exposure through practical measures.
Nature as an antidote
Natural EMFs, like sunlight and grounding, can benefit our bodies because artificial EMFs in our modern environment disrupt our natural rhythms, and speed up our mitochondrial mutations.
You are an electrical system and being in natural environments that support that system will help your body function.

It's essential to take steps to mitigate exposure to artificial EMFS, starting with simple changes like turning off Wi-Fi and power in the bedroom. Over time, we can adapt to healthier practices to protect our health.
