5 Peptides That Could Transform Your Sleep

By Martha Lewis12/10/2025
5 Peptides That Could Transform Your Sleep

I'll be honest—a month ago, I was completely against peptides. As someone who prefers natural approaches, the idea of using them felt too close to pharmaceuticals for my comfort.

But after watching my colleagues get incredible results for themselves and their clients, I had to reconsider. And I'm glad I did, because peptides might be the missing piece for people who've tried everything for better sleep and still can't get results.

What Makes Peptides Different From Regular Medications?

Here's what helped me understand them: peptides are just short chains of amino acids (proteins) that are already similar to what's naturally in your body.

Unlike traditional drugs that affect your entire system, peptides target specific receptors. This means fewer side effects and rarely any immune reactions. They're not shutting things down or overpowering your body—they're supporting your body's natural function.

And they've been around longer than you'd think. Many have been FDA-approved and studied for over 20 years.

Important: Peptides Aren't a Magic Pill

Before I get into the five peptides, I need to be clear about something: peptides are like condiments on a plate of food. They're not the meal itself.

The actual "food" on your plate is the foundations—things like eating enough protein, moving your body, getting morning sunlight, and supporting your nervous system. Without those foundations, peptides won't work as well.

This is exactly why I'm now including peptide education in my one-on-one programs. I can make sure you're doing the foundations right while you're using peptides, which means better results and fewer side effects.

The 5 Best Peptides for Sleep (Directly and Indirectly)

1. Sermorelin: The Gentle Growth Hormone Booster

This is the only one specifically known for helping with sleep, though the studies don't show it—the results are mostly anecdotal. But a lot of people report major sleep improvements.

Sermorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue, which means it tells your pituitary gland to make more growth hormone. This naturally declines as we age, but it's crucial for muscle support, fat loss, recovery, and brain function.

Why sermorelin instead of other growth hormone peptides like Tesamorelin or Ipamorelin? Those can affect cortisol, and most people with sleep issues already have dysregulated cortisol. Sermorelin is much gentler, especially for women in midlife who tend to be more sensitive.

The catch: I don't think this alone will fix your sleep if you're not addressing why you weren't sleeping in the first place. That's where the next four come in.

2. BPC-157 + TB-500: The Wolverine Stack for Inflammation and Healing

These two peptides work together to calm inflammation and support healing—especially in the gut.

BPC-157 comes from a naturally occurring protein in gastric juice. It promotes blood vessel formation and can help repair tendons, ligaments, muscles, and your gut lining. This makes it great for leaky gut, food sensitivities, IBS, and ulcerative colitis.

TB-500 reduces inflammation, promotes tissue regeneration, and supports systemic healing. It's especially helpful for recovery from injury or chronic inflammation.

I'm excited about this combo for clients who have a lot going on in their gut—people who've tried everything and their gut just won't fully recover.

3. Thymosin Alpha-1 (TA-1): The Immune System Trainer

Think of this as training your immune system to respond better to infections. It supports antiviral and anti-inflammatory pathways and is great for chronic infections like H. pylori, Lyme, mold, and bacterial infections.

It can also help modulate autoimmunity and support nervous system issues—things a lot of my sleep clients are dealing with.

You can combine it with another peptide called Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-4) or Zymosin for gentler immune support. This is perfect if you get sick all the time, travel frequently, or need help resetting after an infection.

4. Glutathione: The Master Detox Peptide

This one is personal for me. I have a hard time detoxing no matter what I do—I rarely drink, use all-natural products, eat organic, all of it. But I have genetic mutations (like MTHFR) that make detox harder, plus I damaged my liver in my twenties and thirties by drinking too much.

Glutathione is the master antioxidant. It's crucial for detox, immunity, and your mitochondria (which produce all your energy). It's especially helpful for people dealing with mold toxicity, chronic fatigue, high oxidative stress, liver issues, and chronic inflammation.

You can get it as a supplement or IV, but in injectable peptide form, it can be even more powerful.

5. Tirzepatide: Not Just for Weight Loss

You've probably heard of Ozempic (semaglutide), the GLP-1 peptide known for weight loss. But I'm recommending something newer called Tirzepatide.

Tirzepatide is both a GLP-1 and a GIP, which means it targets two receptor sites instead of one. This second-generation approach tends to have fewer side effects than Ozempic.

Here's the thing: you don't need to want to lose weight to benefit from this. Yes, I'd love to lose the last 10 stubborn pounds that won't budge despite eating well and exercising. But the real magic is in how it regulates blood sugar and insulin.

And here's why that matters for sleep: when your blood sugar crashes at night, your body releases cortisol to bring it back up. That wakes you up. By stabilizing blood sugar, you're also stabilizing cortisol—which means better sleep.

I'm hearing about people using micro-doses (as low as 0.25 mg instead of the 25 mg weight-loss dose) and getting amazing results with almost no side effects. At that dose, you might have mild nausea or appetite suppression for a week or two, but it's rare.

Which Peptide Should You Start With?

Honestly? I'm not starting most of my clients with Sermorelin (the "sleep peptide").

I'm starting with the ones that address the root causes of their sleep issues—things like inflammation, gut problems, blood sugar dysregulation, and chronic infections.

Because here's the truth: not being able to sleep is a sign that your body isn't healthy, even if you're doing all the "right" things.

How to Get Peptides Safely

I've partnered with a physician-led peptide source called Ellie MD that does third-party testing and operates in an approved facility. You go through a doctor who reviews your intake forms and makes sure you're healthy enough for peptides.

The peptides come pre-mixed with everything you need—no sketchy black market purchases or trying to reconstitute them yourself. You also get consults with a doctor and lots of educational resources.

This is so much safer than trying to DIY peptides, and as a health coach, it allows me to educate my clients while a licensed physician handles the prescribing and oversight.
